Acupuncture For thousands of years, acupuncture has been used by medical practitioners to maintain health and treat disease based on the concept of unblocking and balancing the natural flow of energy throughout the body. The term “acupuncture” describes a family of techniques used to stimulate distinct points on the body where the energy, or Qi, concentrates and can be contacted. The most often studied technique involves the insertion of fine, sterile, metallic needles into these energetic points, while other options include the use of heat, lasers, magnets, manual pressure and metallic beads, among others, to stimulate these same points. In an effort to gain a holistic understanding of your health needs and to structure a treatment program best suited for you, Dr. Jeney will take a full health history, which includes information about your current and previous health conditions, diet and lifestyle during your first visit. Your initial visit will generally last sixty to seventy five minutes, and will include your first acupuncture treatment. Follow up treatments will last approximately forty five to sixty minutes. Some conditions respond after only a few treatments, while others may require several weeks of treatment or more. Needless techniques, which are most appropriate for young children, involve little to no physical sensation, although warmth, vibration or tingling are possible. Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide range of medical conditions, can complement most conventional and non-conventional medical therapies and can also play an integral role in general health maintenance and reduction of the body’s response to stress.

Therapeutic Massage Techniques Jaime Bachrach is trained in a variety of techniques, including sports and deep tissue massage as well as hot stone massage that allows for easier manipulation and relaxation of the tissue. Pre/Post Natal massage is a natural and soothing way to relieve many of the stresses your body experiences during and after pregnancy. The Isabell Gatto Method of Therapeutic Acupressure and Bella Chi (IGM®) is a specialized acupressure technique that allows the body to restore balance and help heal itself. Reflexology is based on the idea that specific points on the feet and hands correspond to specific organs and tissues throughout the body.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST): CST is performed fully clothed. It uses light touch generally no more than the weight of a nickel. The practitioner monitors the rhythm of the CranioSacral system to detect potential restrictions & imbalances. The therapist then uses techniques to release those problem areas and relieve pressure on the brain and spinal cord.

Herbal Medicine: Herbal or botanical medicine uses a plant's seeds, berries, roots, leaves, bark, or flowers for medicinal purposes. Herbalism has a long tradition of use in many cultures. It can be an effective complement for many conditions including insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome and migraine headaches.

Biofeedback and Self-Hypnosis: Mind-body therapies like biofeedback and self-hypnosis help us to cope with stress and pain. Biofeedback is a technique that trains people to improve their health by controlling certain bodily processes that normally happen involuntarily, such as heart rate. Electrodes attached to your skin measure these processes and display them on a monitor. With assistance, you can learn change these variables through breathing and relaxation techniques. Self-hypnosis is a deeper form of relaxation therapy that is very effective for chronic pain relief, like migraine headaches. Hypnosis can help people learn how to master their own states of awareness. By doing so they can affect their own bodily functions and psychological responses.

Pre/Postnatal Wellness Consultations: No time is more important to focus on your health and wellness than when you are having or thinking about having a baby. Get your mind and body in optimal condition for this incredible transition by consulting with our integrative team regarding any of the aforementioned therapies.
